Hamas Rejects Reported Blair Role in Gaza Administration
These statements were issued by senior member of the Hamas political bureau, Husam Badran, and published on the group’s official Telegram channel.
The comments came in response to an article by an Israeli newspaper, which cited an Arab political source alleging that the U.S. government has developed a proposal to appoint Blair to lead an interim administration in Gaza.
Badran strongly criticized any association of Blair with such plans, calling it “an ominous sign for the Palestinian people.”
He labeled the former prime minister “a negative figure who deserves to stand before international courts for his crimes, especially his role in the war on Iraq (from 2003–2011).”
Badran didn’t hold back in his condemnation, referring to Blair as “the devil’s brother,” and insisting he “has brought nothing good to the Palestinian cause, the Arabs or the Muslims, and his criminal, destructive role has been well known for years.”
He underscored that determining how Palestinian affairs are handled in Gaza or the West Bank is an “internal matter that must be decided through national consensus, not imposed by any regional or international party.”
“The Palestinian people are capable of managing themselves; we have the resources and expertise to run our own affairs and our relations with the region and the world,” Badran concluded.
