US Soldier Dies in Training Incident at Iraq Airbase–Pentagon

(MENAFN) A US service member has died in what authorities described as a “training-related incident” at a military facility in northern Iraq, according to the Pentagon.

The soldier was identified as Sgt. Devin A. Seibel, 26, from Robinson, Texas. He died on May 31 at Erbil Air Base while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led mission targeting the Daesh/ISIS group.

According to reports, the Pentagon said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and did not provide further details about what occurred.

No additional information about the nature of the training accident or the events leading to the death was immediately released by officials.
